Artist’s Note:
Le Paris Noir was a step into new territory as I experimented with a textured, impasto style. As I painted her, she began to feel effortlessly classy, and the beret brought to mind Paris—a city known for its blend of art and elegance. The association was unplanned but fitting, and the song Nggas in Paris* by Jay-Z and Kanye West kept playing in my head as I worked. This piece captures a timeless vibe with a confident edge, honoring Black beauty through a new artistic approach.
