Artist’s Note:
I created Grounded out of my love for seeing Black women embrace activities not always associated with us—like yoga. This piece combines my appreciation for peace and plants, especially the snake plant, a favorite of mine. I have two of my own, affectionately named Viper and Viper Jr., that bring me joy and calm. Grounded is a tribute to the tranquility of yoga and the grounding presence of nature.
