Grayscale is the second piece in the Afro Pick Collection, featuring a woman with a eye catching fro that radiates around her like a halo. Her low-focused eyes and calm expression draw you in, but her large, moon-like fro takes center stage, showcasing the beauty and fullness of natural Black hair. This 24x36 inch black-and-white portrait adds depth and strength to the Afro Pick series, offering a bold statement of Black beauty.

Artist’s Note:

Grayscale was inspired by my desire to feature another woman with a fro in this collection. Her afro is massive, forming a halo-like aura around her, while her focused gaze and face pull you in. The simplicity of the black-and-white palette lets the strength of her natural hair shine. I wanted this piece to be a celebration of Black hair’s volume, power, and presence.
